Hall Lane, Bold, St Helens. WA9 4SG
Maypole Wood is next door to Clockface Country Park, where there is ample car parking, and from which you can walk through to Griffin Wood. Note - there is no parking on Hall Lane. This is a flat site, great for a gentle stroll, or can be part of a longer walk, cycle or horse ride linking in with the surrounding community woods. You can relax on one of the benches taking in the sounds of birdsong and bees. There is a fenced off willow bed in the centre of the site with a variety of basket weaving willows. A wetland at the southern end of the site is fed by water from the old mine workings, hence the rusty orange colour of the water. Marshmarigold, purple loosestrife and reeds filter this water before it flows into Griffin Wood just next door.
