Cumber Lane, Whiston, Prescot. L35 3TD
A Community Woodland on the doorstep of Whiston, with trees and wildflowers, paths and wildlife waiting to be discovered. Whiston wood is a relaxing place to take a stroll and listen to the skylarks with views to Halton Castle in the distance. This site was created from farmland and is now open for everyone to enjoy. Whiston Wood is bordered by the ancient boundary of Whiston Brook and the railway line upon which they held the Rainhill trials (Stephenson's Rocket) just over 100 years ago. This is a relatively flat site, with paths suitable for cycling and horse riding. The main entrance to the site is opposite Dursley Driveway. This woodland is within walking distance from Whiston Railway Station and on a main bus route. The oxeye daisies can be seen on Googlemap as a white squiggly line!
